THE manifesto, by fellow nekowebbers. go home
a different approach to copying is an act of love manifesto.

# Copying is an act of hate. Please don't copy.
People copy stuff they like. Why? Because they're lazy to make something they like. The more a work is copied, the less valuable it becomes for anyone who passes by it.

## Art is a form of creativity
Imagine a world where every piece of art looked the same. Art is a form of telling stories or showing off aspects of yourself. By allowing others to copy your art, your art has no longer value, and instead becomes merely a template like a girls' Disney drawing book.

### Copying doesn't show love
When you copy art, you invalidate the time and effort put into that art. You don't get to call yourself an artist, because what is an artist if they cannot make art? What "love" are you showing when you copy art?

#### Please don't copy.
There's nothing stopping you, but art is about yourself. You don't wanna be seen as a hater, do you?

Copying is an act of theft, while taking inspiration is the true act of love.

There's a common saying that goes like "copying is an act of love" when in reality it could not be further from the truth. Consider how much time and effort went into that design, how much times was spent writing the code, or positioning things in the designing phase. If people just take notes, and instead of blatantly copying a design, they just apply certain parts of it, but still put their own twists on it, that is perfectly okay. But if you just take someones code, especially if you don't ask permission, you're just a code robber.
